I'm new to Substack and First, Choose Love.. and may I say that you are inspiring. Thru guided meditation practice for years now, most recently with 10% Happier, I've grown to know and admire (and yes, love) those whom I share this intimate space with. You, Jeff, Dan.. the entire crew.. My personal growth and it's effect is subtle yet foundational and can't be over stated.. why did I not discover this door earlier in life? Well.. growth only happens when it's supposed to, so I guess that's progress.
Just wanted to say thanks for being such a loving and kind soul as to share your deep journey thru life with all of us.. an act of the most intimate kind.
LOVE This! Love is an Ability. Wise words added to yours from Sharon Salzburg. This past Saturday, I attended a virtual retreat with Sharon and Atman, Ali and Andrés of Holistic Life Center. Their book, like yours, is a beacon of Love!
Sebene, I came home after stressful day as a federal employee, resonating with the fear of my friends who are wondering how to respond as our calling to be of service to others is met with cruel senseless edicts, and sought some relief from meditation. When I heard your voice say Choose Love, my chest filled with warmth and a sense of sunbeams! All the stress dropped away for a moment as I realized that no one can take Loving away from me, that Love has incredible energy and power and I can rest there. (Yes Dan it's cheesy, no regrets) That I have known and given love filled me with strength and patience for one more day. Thank you.
This brought me down the Enneagram rabbit hole. And that, in turn, gave me some objective and detached ways to examine my own reactions to the current sh*t show. I have been enlightened by a personality test. For real.
